On the whole this whole Intervention and blogging process was a lot of fun, and the most interactive and enjoyable brief I have done.
But now, back to my old ways...

Day 9...

Hmmm, so this... Nearly the end :) Yay, i am dying to have my old style back!!! And i really mean dying.
So, today i went for a 6km run along the promande in Sea Point, (in my Rugby kit of course, which is normal for running in anyway). Its was an overcast and misty day, but wow it was beautiful. I ran with one of my best friends Bron and it was so nice to get somne fresh air in our lungs, chat, laugh and of course get the exercise. People often forhget how healthy it is for your body to exercise, it is important in living a healthy lifestyle.

Physical exercise is any bodily activity that enhances or maintains physical fitness and overall health and wellness. Frequent and regular physical exercise boosts the immune system, and helps prevent the "diseases of affluence" such as heart disease, cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes and obesity. It also improves mental health, helps prevent depression, helps to promote or maintain positive self-esteem, and can even augment an individual's sex appeal or body image, which again is also linked with higher levels of self-esteem. Childhood obesity is a growing global concern and physical exercise may help decrease the effects of childhood obesity in developed countries.

Day 8...

So, today is a public holiday... Human Rights Day! And all though i had sooooo much work to do, i took the day off and had a 'Me Day' with all my friends. A day filled with Butlers Pizza, Cokes, Ice cream and tones more of other naughty foods. We lazied around on the couches all day and watched movie after movie. It was awesome. The chill out session was much needed.

Our "Pig Out Day" reeminded me of this documentry on a show called The Price Of Beauty. The show goes all over the world exploring different takes on beauty, or rather, exploring social frames for understanding and defining what is beautiful, or not. On this one i watched, they visited Uganda where in their culute Fat is Beauty. As for the gender roles in Uganda, The men are thought to be the “providers” just like in most cultures, and as for the Women's roles they are clearly inferior to those of men. Women were taught to inherit to the wishes of their fathers, brothers, husbands, and sometimes other men as well, and to demonstrate their obligation to men. The women are the care givers. What is unique about the Uganda tribe is that the men want to marry fat women. In this highly traditional culture, women would have no choice but to marry the men of their parents' choice. Two months prior to their wedding day, a woman would have to make herself fat by drinking milk daily every few hours, and are not a loud to walk around and burn fat, besides to go to the toilet. Everyone does everything for the. Their fiance's do not see them kn this time untill the actual wedding day, when they are at heir pak of their beauty - THEIR MOST FAT!
It makes you question the definition of beauty and your perceptions. I respects them for loving their way of life as they were always happy and smiling no matter how big you are. What a wonderful way to live!

Day 7...

Today I went to beer fest at the Biscuit Mill in Woodstock. I thought I would totally fit in, as beer, guys, my guys clothes. But surprisingly everyone there was super stylish. Not to worry,  I went off with my friends  to go get our first beer for the day :) We paid R30 entrance and got a free beer mug with that which you drink out of the whole day.

They day turned out to be a lot of fun, filled with amazing food, and of course beer! Due to my intervention and the way i was dressed, my friends made me down a beer... Well let me tell you, this was a hopeless fail. Not only did it go ALL over my face, it took me ages to get through it. I don’t know how boys do it. "Open you gullet" all the guys kept saying. All in all it was a really fun day... And at the end we landed up at Caprice in our ‘I <3 Real Beer t-shirts.’
Interesting, all the beer are Independent buries, so not from SAB, and they are good quality beers. Some of these include Brewers In Union, Jack Black and Darling... From what I can remember.

Steak, Egg and Chips...

Last we went to a friend’s flat for dinner with all the boy’s. We had a typical boy’s meal. Steak, egg and chips.

After having dinner with the boys and playing a bit of Xbox we all went to Asoka and the opening of a new club, Blake. I went dressed in my rugby shorts, big t-shirt and slopes and i was sent home to get change as it did not fit in with their 'dress criteria'. I was actually pretty happy because my friends would not let me go dressed up, they forced me to go in my Intervention outfit. So when they sent me back home to change, I was actually the happiest person in the world :) :)

Day 5...

Today my house mates and i walked the streets of sea point, and wow it was extremely hot!!! While walking we stopped at this cute little ice cream shop and all bought ice creams. My ice cream was a sugar cone and had one scoop of bar one ice cream and one scoop and one scoop of black forest.

As I was indulging in my ice cream, I thought of the expectations society puts on our youth. Most younger girls don’t enjoy food how they should. By seeing models in magazines, watching movies, readig articles, etc they are given this idea of what society says the 'norm' is, to be super skinny. Today the media is the biggest influence on our society. Anorexia is a huge problem with our youth today because of this idea they are give. People are constantly dieting and being concerned what they look like they even resort to plastic surgery. This is because people are always trying to better themselves to try and 'fit in' into days 'norms' in society.
This is a result in what the media is doing to people...
